Overview
Established in 1992, the School of Architecture at Siddaganga Institute of Technology is committed to cultivating creative, socially responsible, and environmentally conscious architects. The five-year B.Arch program emphasizes a studio-based, hands-on approach to learning, integrating design, technology, and sustainability. Supported by experienced faculty and modern infrastructure, students engage in live projects, workshops, internships, and community-focused design initiatives. With access to digital fabrication labs, construction yards, and interdisciplinary learning, the school nurtures critical thinking and innovation. SoA-SIT continues to evolve as a leading institution, empowering students to shape resilient, inclusive, and contextually responsive built environments
Program Details
Duration: 5 Years
- The School of Architecture at Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) program with an annual intake of 40 students. This five-year undergraduate program is approved by the Council of Architecture (COA) and affiliated with VTU, Belagavi.
- The department is also a recognized VTU Research Centre for Ph.D. in Architecture, providing opportunities for advanced research in areas such as sustainable design, vernacular architecture, and urban studies.

Participation and awards Academic Year 2023–24
- Transparence 18.0 – Architecture Category: 36 students from the IX semester participated in this national-level competition organized by Saint-Gobain & Ethos.
- Transparence 18.0 – Interior Design Category: 30 students from the VII semester participated, and three students secured the 2nd runner-up position at the national level, organized by Saint-Gobain & Ethos.
- Transparence 17.0 – Architecture Category: Harshini K received the Best Studio Project award in the regional round, organized by Saint-Gobain & Ethos.
- Kaarwan Thesis Competition 2024: Harshini K was awarded a Special Mention in this national-level thesis competition organized by Kaarwan.
- Design Competition 2024: Three students participated in the competition organized by The LEAF Team (Let’s Empower Autism Foundation).
- National Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis 2023 & JK AYA Best Architecture Student of the Year Awards 2023: Neha HN was shortlisted in the Top 10, organized by COA TRC, Pune and Dayanand Sagar College of Architecture, Bangalore.
- Students Award for Excellence in Documentation of Architectural Heritage 2023: 12 students from the VI semester participated in this national-level competition organized by COA TRC, Pune and Dayanand Sagar College of Architecture, Bangalore.
- Students Award for Excellence in Documentation of Architectural Heritage 2023: 12 students from the IV semester also participated in the same competition organized by COA TRC, Pune and Dayanand Sagar College of Architecture, Bangalore.

- Transparence 19.0 – Architecture Category: 30 students from the IX semester participated in this national-level competition organized by Saint-Gobain & Ethos.

- Solar pergola design: Karthik Nivas, IX semester student participated in the competition organized by Aditya school of Architecture, Bengaluru
- Arun Kumar J, Ganesh T S, Karan Kotemane H G, Lohith Kumar HB have been shortlisted in “No Waste for Change” pavilion design competition in 11th Zero Energy Mass Custom Home International Conference organized by VIT Vellore & Arcause, Ethos.
- Best Thesis: Kumbar Vaibhav was recognized among top 3 honors, organized by IIA – Karnataka chapter in the Latitude 2024 conference.
- Students Award for Excellence in Documentation of Architectural Heritage 2024: 12 students were regional winners in the national-level competition organized by COA TRC, Pune and Dayanand Sagar College of Architecture, Bangalore.
- Students Award for Excellence in Documentation of Architectural Heritage 2024: 12 students from the IV semester also participated which was organized by COA TRC, Pune and Dayanand Sagar College of Architecture, Bangalore.
- Best outgoing student 204: Rachana T S, X sem student won the prestigious award organized by IIA.
Events Academic Year 2023–24
- Color Crawl – A social benefit programme involving the artistic transformation of the Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre at District Hospital, Tumakuru, carried out by 25 students across academic years under the guidance of Dr. Sagar T.S., Ar. Bhoomika U, and Mr. Siddesha Gowda.
- Walk the Talk – A student-designed pavilion for the Government School on Sira Road, Tumakuru, developed as a social outreach initiative by 40 students across academic years, fostering community engagement through architecture.
MOU & Student chapter
- Medini: Workshop on Autodesk 360 – A two-day technical workshop focused on collaborative tools and workflows using Autodesk 360 was conducted on 23rd and 24th June 2023.
- IGBC Student Chapter – SIT: Documentary Screening on Design Awareness: Sustainability and Green Buildings – Aimed at sensitizing students to sustainable design practices, this screening saw the participation of 70 students and was held on 21st December 2023.
- FSAI Student Chapter: Technical Session on Electrical Fire Prevention and Safety Measures – Focused on fire safety protocols and risk management, this session was conducted on 12th June 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
- IGBC Student Chapter – SIT: Webinar: Green Building Awareness Program – Delivered by Mr. Dhiraj Katari, Associate Counsellor, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), this webinar emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and was held on 20th May 2025
Guest Lectures and Workshops – Academic Year 2023–24
- An invited talk on Acoustics was delivered by Mr. Sankarshan S, Director at Sonics Limited, Bengaluru, for the VII Semester students on 8th July 2023.
- A guest lecture on Estimation and Costing was conducted by Mr. N. K. Rajkumar, Chartered Engineer and Government Approved Valuer, for the V Semester students on 10th July 2023.
- Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Quality Control Manager at Azmeel Contracting Company, Saudi Arabia, presented a session titled “Burj Khalifa Tower – An Architectural, Structural, Quality and Safe Megatall Structure” for the V and VII Semester students on 12th July 2023.
- A webinar on Desagati Wades was conducted by Dr. Sagamesh Kalyani, Professor at Madilipi-KUD, Dharwad, for the I and III Semester students on 19th August 2023.
- A two-day workshop on Architectural Presentation Techniques was organized by Mr. Ratheesan from Kannur, Kerala, for the I and III Semester students on 19th and 20th September 2023.
- A follow-up workshop on Digital Architectural Presentation Techniques was conducted by Mr. Ratheesan for the V Semester students on 21st and 22nd September 2023.
- A two-day workshop titled “Unfolding the Planes” was conducted by Ar. Devi Prasad Kateel, Founder of AAA Design Studio, Mangaluru, for the I and III Semester students on 4th and 5th January 2024.
- A workshop on Membrane Structures was held by Mr. Abdul Sathar, Bengaluru, for the III and V Semester students on 10th and 11th February 2024.
- A design workshop titled “In Search of Timeless Architecture” was facilitated by Ar. Narendra Veeranna, Founder of Gravitas Architecture and Principal Urban Designer at Parsons Ltd., Saudi Arabia, along with Ar. Raghunandan Gururaj, Co-founder of Parallax Architecture, Bengaluru, for the VI and X Semester students on 5th and 8th April 2024

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) - UG
Graduates from school of Architecture will achieve the following Program Educational Objectives within few years of graduation:
- Graduates will showcase capabilities for competent practice of Architecture and enhance career by pursuing higher education
- Graduates will exhibit strong design skills to solve complex real-time problems through high technical skills and strong communication along with the knowledge of various domains of architecture including landscape, architectural conservation, interior design, energy conscious architecture, urban design and planning, construction project management, alternative building techniques, building information modeling and digital architecture
- Graduates will demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, societal concerns, effective team work and adapt to dynamic global and local needs engaging in lifelong learning.

Graduates will be able to:
- Architectural Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of design principles, building systems & technologies, humanities and environmental aspects in design, planning and construction.
- Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyse various scales of architectural projects to arrive at tangible conclusions.
- Design/ Development of solutions: Design solutions to integrate interdisciplinary approach for contextual issues pertaining to built-environment.
- Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and methodologies including context analysis, case studies, project requirements and synthesis of the information to provide context sensitive solutions.
- Modern tool usage: Identify, select and apply the appropriate tools, techniques and resources to predict, design and simulate qualitative and quantitative outcomes with an understanding of its limitations.
- The Architect and Society: Apply reasoning to address socio-cultural, legal and safety aspects relevant to the professional practice and social responsibility.
- Environment and Sustainability: Understand the importance of the architectural design solutions in environmental and social contexts to demonstrate the need for sustainable built environment.
